About La Bottega di Luca

ITALIAN RESTAURANT, BANGKOK

The driving force behind La Bottega is chef and entrepreneur Luca Appino originally from the culinarily rich Piemonte region of Italy. Luca brought his own sense of adventure and innate passion for food to Bangkok in 2004 as part of the team that opened L`Enoteca and would go on to help launch other successful names in the Bangkok F&B scene, including Vesper and Il fumo. With his trademark flair, he opened La Bottega di Luca, an award-winning restaurant that showcases carefully sourced Italian ingredients in a casually elegant atmosphere. Since then, his personal blend of daring, creativity and nose for opportunities have led him to expand his portfolio that includes Asia`s first pizza food truck; Pizza Massilia that serves traditional pizza with a sense of style; Pizzaiola that doesn't skimp on quality or tradition.
His secret in developing varied outlets is understanding different positioning and what each market segment wants. “You can`t make a fine dining restaurant for bus loads of tourists,” says Luca emphatically.
Another key to success is a willingness to adapt to changing conditions. He points to La Bottega di Luca, initially an upscale Italian grocer that morphed into his well-loved casual fine dining venue. “What I like is projects with a future that require new concepts and vision, projects that over time can adapt to changing markets,” Luca states.
Luca`s ability to think outside of the box, to cut to the quick to provide insightful analysis, and his trademark touch of fantasia are the qualities that allow him to do just that.
